Outdoor Games & Office Furniture Pushing Profits for Wild Sales
September 28, 2009
You never know where you’re going to catch up with an exhibitor for the Sports Licensed & Tailgate Show. Jack Queally, president of Wild Sales, was on his way to a Tailgate Toss Tournament before a Notre Dame-Purdue football game. The event was part of a new marketing effort recently launched by the company.
“It has been a wonderful experience,” says Queally. “The interaction with consumers has been great. And there’s nothing like seeing people leave with a few of your products tucked under their arms. As we like to say, ‘You play, you’ll buy.’”
Tailgate Toss is one of the flagship games offered by Wild Sales. Like all of the company’s products, it is available in NFL, MLB and NCAA teams. Wild Sales has also been busy expanding its tailgate line. Among the new items from the company are Washers Toss and a tailgate table that doubles as a table tennis venue.
“These products fall in line with our strategy of focusing on premium items,” says Queally. “We’ve been producing double-digits in terms of sell-through.”

The same is true with Wild Sales’ newest entry in the home and office category, the Rookie. “It’s a task chair that retails for $119.99,” says Queally. “It’s a great compliment to the Commissioner, a leather office chair that has become a staple for the fanatical fan.”
Despite the uncertainty of the economy, Queally feels that Wild Sales is positioned well to continue its excellent performance with retailers. For instance, he says, the trend toward staycations has benefited the company, as consumers look for ways to get more bang for their buck. Tailgate games from Wild Sales are a perfect solution.
“Sales, margins and turn—that’s our motto,” says Queally. “We’ve been reinvesting in marketing and with our customers. We might not be the biggest, but we want to be the best.”
