Ubertap
Drinking It All In
New Product Promises to Make Splash in Licensing
August 30, 2006
What
could a former Arena Football League star and current U.S.
Bobsled member have in common with a San Jose Sharks defenseman,
an actor from MTV’s “The Real World” and
one of the Windy City’s up-and-coming musicians? In
one word, Ubertap.
The fab foursome of Jamie Moriarty, Doug Murray, Jamie Murray
and Austin Hartley-Leonard is the creative force behind
this intriguing new product, which has the potential to
be a giant in the licensing market. Ubertap will make its
industry debut at the Sports Licensing & Entertainment
Marketplace in November.
“The Ubertap is a multiple-faucet keg tap with a foot
pump,” says Moriarty, the former AFL and Olympic hopeful.
Moriarty and his partners came up with the idea two years
ago after a fractured elbow ended his career with the Memphis
Explorers. The Ubertap, a perfect solution for the tailgating
crowd, allows users to fill more than one cup at the same
time. It can be used for every type of keg system.

But
what many in the industry may find most compelling about
the Ubertap is its applications as a licensed product. The
item features three distinct areas for a logo—the
triangular piece that sits atop the tap, the foot pump and
the tubing that connects the two. “The Ubertap is
ideal for customization,” says Moriarty.
The company has already opened discussions with NASCAR,
and the other major sports leagues are also on their radar.
That’s one of the reasons they’re exhibiting
at SLEM in Las Vegas.
“We haven’t had to do a lot of marketing so
far to get exposure,” says Moriarty. “Currently,
several online distributors carry the Ubertap, including
Target.com. But we’re looking to get into brick &
mortar stores. That’s the best way for us to reach
consumers.”
Ubertap isn’t the only product available from Moriarty
and his partners. They offer a full line of items under
the name Uber Dispensing Company, including the Ultimate
Cocktail and beer pong tables. All will be on display at
SLEM.
