Third Street Sportswear Sets Itself Apart as Custom Manufacturer
November 9, 2011

In licensed apparel, custom manufacturers are the exception rather than the rule. In the case of Third Street Sportswear, it's more accurate to say that the company is exceptional. "We're not limited by anything, including colors," says Laurie Thomas, Third Street's Sales Manager. "We're all custom-cut and sew. We don't run out of sizes. We can do almost anything."

Third Street has been keeping that promise for 25 years. Laurie's parents, Brad and Julie, started the company back in 1986. Today, Laurie runs the business along with her sister Becky. Licensing is a big part of what Third Street does. The company has more than 200 schools in the fold.

"We specialize in infant, toddler and youth fashions," says Laurie "Everything is made in the USA in our factories in Missouri. We work with mostly on-campus retail stores. One of our goals is to get into more off-campus outlets."

To that end, Third Street will exhibit for the first time at the Sports Licensing and Tailgate Show this coming January. "A lot of our customers will be there," says Laurie. "This is a great opportunity for us to meet others in the industry."

Third Street has the exclusive license to produce Charles Shultz's Peanuts characters with collegiate logos and colors.

Third Street will have its new 2012 line on display at the show. Several trends have shaped the collection, including ruffles for girls and stripes for boys. "There is also deco stitch and dazzle shorts and skirts," Laurie adds.

She is excited to deliver Third Street's message to retailers and buyers in Las Vegas. "We are you custom manufacturer," says Laurie. "We've found a great niche in collegiate sportswear, and that's where we want to stay."
