Ready to Take the Next Step
November 13, 2007
Buyers and retailers who attended last year’s Sports Licensing & Entertainment Marketplace and Tailgate • Picnic Show in Las Vegas may remember a new company called Take-A-Seat. Owner Pat Rock was on hand exhibiting his product—a “3-in-1 seating, bike rack and cargo carrier solution” that he also invented.
“The Take-A-Seat is a conversation piece,” he says. “There’s nothing else like it out there.”

That has been the reaction so far from those in the tailgate industry who have seen the Take-A-Seat. Rock began previewing it to selected retailers this past summer. Orders came quickly. “We’ve been received very well,” says Rock. “We’ve had a couple of large retailers interested as well.”
According to Rock, his company has spent a good part of 2007 preparing for a widespread launch of Take-A-Seat. First and foremost was getting manufacturing in place. Rock is happy to report that the first production run of Take-A-Seat is due out in December.

One of his next jobs is to look into licensing. Take-A-Seat, which carries a suggested retail price of $299, is currently offered in six colors, plus a camouflage design. Rock feels the product is a perfect fit for licensing and promotions. “It lends nicely to prominent logo placement,” he notes
For that reason, Rock will be extra busy during the show in January. Take-A-Seat will exhibit as a tailgating company, but Rock also hopes to find out more about licensing opportunities. One thing is certain—he won’t have any problems finding a seat for anyone visiting his booth.
