Tailgate • Picnic Show Welcomes American Tailgaters Association as Title Sponsor
ATA Reaching Out to 35+ Million “Voracious” Consumers
August 8, 2006

The Tailgate • Picnic Show, November 9-11, 2006 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, initially conceived as a “complementary show” to the Sports Licensing & Entertainment Marketplace in Las Vegas, has taken on a life of its own, and is quickly becoming one of the most highly anticipated and talked-about industry gatherings on the fall calendar. Now comes news that the American Tailgaters Association (ATA) has reached an agreement with Showproco, LLC, the producers of the show, to become the event’s title sponsor.

ATA President John Largent

The newly renamed ATA Tailgate • Picnic Show will be held in the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, November 9–11, 2006.

“The ATA’s involvement in this event brings the entire tailgating industry into one place, at one time, for the first time ever,” says ATA president John Largent. “We will put more tailgate product buyers on the floor, more manufacturers in exhibits, and raise the fun level exponentially,” said Largent.

"Tailgaters are voracious and loyal consumers,” says Tailgate • Picnic Show Manager, Stanley Schwartz. “People in the licensed sports industry will be astounded when they begin to grasp the profound potential of this marketplace.”

The ATA was created by Largent and his partners in 2005 to bring focus and recognition to a cultural phenomenon that involves 35 to 50 million people a year. Based in San Antonio and supported by 90,000 members and corporate sponsorships, the ATA takes its show on the road to NFL, NASCAR, MLB, AFL and NCAA events. The organization has been profiled on ESPN, FOX, CBS and NBC, and featured in Sports Illustrated as well as The Wall Street Journal.

The ATA was recently spotlighted on The Food Network’s two-hour special, “Tricked-Out Tailgating,” hosted by Al Roker, and is currently developing a
television “road” series that highlights campus-tailgating traditions.

“The ATA Tailgate • Picnic Show began as a way to expand the cross-buying
opportunities at the Sports Licensing & Entertainment Marketplace,” says
Schwartz. “But now it has truly evolved into its own parallel trade show.”
