Popular Portable Adding Retail Accounts

With three sons in college over the years, Jim Golden has done his fair share of tailgating. And after countless hours of driving all over the country—with everything in tow from the grill to the TV—Jim eventually grew frustrated. "Every time we tried to go and visit with our children…to go tailgating, we ended up with no room in the vehicle," he says. "Then we had a greasy grill that we had to deal with. I thought there's got to be a better way." And that's how the idea for the Taildecker was born.
The Taildecker is a sturdy, 3' x 4' aluminium tailgate deck with a steel frame that fits securely in a vehicle's 2" receiver and holds up to 500 lbs. It can be set up in less than five minutes after pulling into a tailgating space. The Taildecker system includes optional accessories designed to make game day all the more enjoyable. Available locking accessories includes a tailgate storage trunk, tables, propane grills, umbrellas, TV/satellite stand, cooler, lantern stand, tall team flags, and a locking hitch pin.

The Taildecker comes with multiple ports that provide placement options for each accessory ordered. Once accessories are in place, the patented Lock-in Portal system helps keeps them safe and secure. "Everything that we put on the Taildecker is first class quality accessories," says Golden. "Our grills and accessories are built for the outdoors. It's top-of-the-line stuff. Nothing will corrode or rust. They're built for the outdoors. It's all aluminium. They tolerate the weather very well."
Golden designed the Taildecker, built it, and took it to the ballgames for all to see. "Everybody started coming up to me and asking…where did you get that?" says Golden. "I told them I made it. And they started wanting one. So I decided to apply for the patent and got the patent on it, and started building them two years ago."
"We're doing great.," he says. "We're starting to get a lot of interest from the retail side now. In fact that's why we're going to the Sports Licensing and Tailgate Show in Las Vegas, because up 'til now, primarily what we have done has been online. The profit margins are not as great when you get into retail, of course, but there is no way for us to get to everyone and let them see one of these unless we go retail."
