January Sports Licensing & Tailgate Show Anticipating Attendance Boost
December 11, 2008

The announcement this week by SGMA and DMG World Media that their June 2009 sports licensing event has been postponed has triggered a rise in attendees for the Sports Licensing & Tailgate Show this January 21–23 in Las Vegas.

According to Show Director Ann Keusch, several exhibitors have contacted Showproco about securing booth space and many buyers are reworking their plans to take advantage of the January show.

“Last winter we polled retailers and manufacturers and found overwhelmingly that a mid-winter show in Las Vegas worked best for the industry,” Keusch explains.
Many buyers who have contacted the show, adds Keusch, have asked about the tailgating component. More than 100 exhibits will be dedicated to this category, which is growing by 20 percent annually—and represents a valuable new revenue stream for many retailers who already carry licensed products.

“There are still reasonable air fares and room rates available for the show,” she says. “And fortunately we have negotiated a flexible floor plan with the Sand Expo, so we should be able to accommodate any new exhibitors.”
