Sports Licensing and Tailgate Show to Add ‘Team Spirit’ Section in January
Select Group of Exhibitors Will Tap Into Passion for the Game

Nothing says “team spirit” like the merchandise mix available at the Sports Licensing and Tailgate Show January 21–23, 2009 at the Sands Expo Center, Las Vegas. For 2009, the show continues its effort to broaden product selection for its buyers and selling channels for its exhibitors with the creation of an exclusive “Team Spirit” section of the show.

Team Spirit exhibitors will offer equipment, apparel, accessories and other goods that may not fall into the “licensed” category—and are not traditional tailgating items—but still speak strongly to the active fan and athlete.

“The retailers attending our show are already selling to consumers who seek these products,” says Show Director Ann Keusch. “, and are always looking to increase the offering to their customers. The Team Spirit section of the Sports Licensing and Tailgate Show will add an exciting new dimension to the networking that takes place on the show floor. It’s a win for the fan, the store, and the manufacturer.”

The show is in the process of reaching out to key manufacturers and distributors in the team spirit category. Design plans for the Team Spirit section are already underway, and with this area in close proximity to the other exhibit areas, Keusch anticipates a lot of cross-pollination.

“For team spirit products exhibitors,” she adds, “this is a chance to explore new lines of distribution—without venturing out of the sports mainstream—as they connect with retailers on a buying excursion in the two hottest categories in the industry.”

In terms of timing, says Keusch, the show works for these exhibitors because
they not only can meet new retailers, but also reconnect with many of their
current customers at a time of year when many are looking to beef up their
inventories.
