Sports Licensing & entertainment Marketplace
Sports Licensed and Tailgate Industry Green-Light January 2008 Show
Buyers, Sellers & Leagues Confirm Need for Strong Trade Event

Time is money. And when there is money to be made in the licensed sports business, timing is important. These two ideas converged in discussions with licensors, licensed manufacturers and licensed buyers in the days following the Sports Licensing & Entertainment Marketplace and Tailgate • Picnic Show, which debuted in Las Vegas last November.

The result of these talks was a clear, across-the-board consensus: The industry wants and needs a robust annual trade event.

Thus the next Sports Licensing & Entertainment Marketplace and Tailgate • Picnic Show will be held Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, January 16 to 18, 2008 at a new venue, the Sands/Venetian Expo Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Exhibit Sales Reach 20 Percent
Space Race for ’08 Has Already Begun
Febuary 13, 2007

With more than 11 months to go before the next Sports Licensing & Entertainment Marketplace (January 16–18, 2008), one-fifth of the prime exhibit space on the expanded show floor has already been accounted for or sold. Show Director Ann Keusch credits a combination of factors for the fast start, including the success of the inaugural event, the Buyer Guarantee for exhibitors, the popularity of the Tailgate • Picnic Show, the new first-quarter dates, and the new venue at the Sands Expo Center.

“Follow-up is critically important in the trade show world,” says Keusch. “After the show last November, we generated a lot of feedback on what worked well, what could work better, and what the industry wanted from an event of this kind. We responded quickly and decisively. This surge in exhibit sales—while we’re still almost a year out—tells us we are moving in the right direction.”

Sales Director Mo Ali echoes these thoughts. He says the new dates for the show have generated a very positive response, and that many of last year’s exhibitors have requested more square footage. This will translate into a “space race,” Ali predicts.

Josiah Collens, Attendee Marketing Director, adds that exhibitors securing space this winter have been invited to submit lists of their key buyers and top prospects to the Showproco marketing staff, which we’ll begin working on to ensure that they attend the show next January. This is one of the many attendance-building programs that is already in play for the Sports Licensing & Entertainment Marketplace and Tailgate • Picnic Show.
