Seasons Jewelry Set to Make First Appearance in Las Vegas

One of the new exhibitors slated to debut at the 2011 Sports Licensing and Tailgate Show is actually an old hat in the collegiate licensed business. Seasons Jewelry has been around since 1980, and their collegiate line has been a staple for more than 15 years. According to company president Dick Rolfe, Seasons is growing by leaps and bounds.

“We’re on the rise,” he says. “Our sales more than doubled last year.”

Why the booming success at Seasons? Rolfe says it has a lot to do with a renewed focus by the company. “Our niches are collegiate product and holiday items,” he explains. “We’re committed to staying fresh and cost-effective. We’ve considered other licensing opportunities, but it’s a big investment of time and resources.”

Texas product is a big seller for Seasons.

Seasons currently has more than 50 schools in the fold. One of Rolfe’s goals for the show is adding a few more. “We’re one of CLC’s top jewelry licensees in terms of sales,” he says. “We’re trying to pursue more schools on the West Coast.”

Seasons offers a comprehensive collection of jewelry, including earrings, bracelets, necklaces and watches. The company caters to consumers who shop for affordable price points. Suggested retail prices range from $4 to $12. “The mark-ups are excellent,” says Rolfe.

That mantra began three decades ago when Rolfe’s mother founded Seasons. “She started the company on a ping-pong table in our basement,” he says. “She eventually found an artist in Mexico who specialized in mixed metals. Today, we work with several manufacturers in China.”

Rolfe is eager to get his first taste of the Sports Licensing & Tailgate Show. He feels there’s a good fit between the Seasons product line and the retailers and buyers who walk the show floor. “We provide a good mix of all types of jewelry,” he says. “Our key issues are good quality at reasonable prices.”
