Out with the Old
Rivalry Style Debuts Trendy Collegiate Fashions
December 22, 2009

Retailers tired of the “same old, same old” in licensed apparel are in for a pleasant surprise from Rivalry Style. Launched last spring, the company has been turning heads with its fresh take on collegiate fashion. “We’ve done a lot of test-marketing on college campuses,” says Rivalry’s president Kevin Raulston. “The response has been excellent.”

Rivalry is capturing the imagination of consumers with on-trend style alternative tops that stay loyal to hardcore fans. “Every design is large format, front and back,” says Raulston. “Our shirts are fitted with a lightweight feel.”

Rivalry currently has 20 collegiate licenses, but that’s only the start. According to Raulston, the company plans to expand quickly. That also includes its reach at retail.

“We’ve been selling online,” says Raulston, “but we just completed a contract with a national sales group. Our initial targets are bookstores, both on-campus and off-site.”

Rivalry is also eager to introduce itself to the licensed industry as a whole. The company will do that in January at the Sports Licensing and Tailgate Show. “We’ll be releasing 20 new styles,” says Raulston. “Retailers and buyers can check out crew necks, v necks, long sleeve shirts and zip hoodies.”

To celebrate its debut, Rivalry is participating in the show’s coupon program. “We want to make it advantageous for retailers and buyers to do business with us,” says Raulston.

“We pledge to always be on the forefront of fashion,” he adds. “Rivalry Style creates contemporary team apparel designs that artistically capture the passion for team loyalty and the essence of individual style.”
