rEvolve "Chairing" a Tailgating Revolution
December 30, 2011
It's no secret that collapsible, portable fabric chairs have changed how Americans enjoy the great outdoors. Indeed, they are everywhere—tailgating, backdoor barbecues, or your kid's soccer game. But that didn't stop Todd Hills of rEvolve Chairs from trying to improve on the idea.
"The concept itself came up from a group of guys," he says. "We wondered what would be beneficial to the chair. And it was the swivel. You wouldn't have to always get up and always move around. You would just have to move left to right."
So was born the rEvolve, which features a unique swivel base that rotates independently of the chair legs. Users can turn 360-degrees as easily as they can in a high-back executive leather chair. Elegant in design, rugged in construction and smooth in operation, the rEvolve also has a removable headrest cushion and digital audio connection with speakers.
Set up is almost automatic from the moment users slide the rEvolve out of its convenient carrying bag and place it on the ground. The chair slides open by itself and locks into place with a quick toe press on the lower bar.
Hills believes the rEvolve will be a big hit with consumers. He's also eager to get feedback from retailers and buyers at the Sports Licensing and Tailgate Show.
"We realized that if we're going to this, let's do it right," said Hills. "We also realized that whatever we do, it has to be cost effective and handle the elements, because of our experience of dealing with products outdoors. And I think that's what we did with the rEvolve."
