No Longer a Stationery Target
National Design Debuts New Products Under NFL License

For more than two decades, National Design built an impressive reputation as a maker of high-quality stationery items. When the company got into the licensed business—through deals with the NBA and MLB—its reached broadened. Now National Design is expanding again, this time with a new NFL license.

"We're very excited," says Executive VP Bonnie Shimrat. "We can now deliver product to our retail partners year-round."

National Design's NFL collection is an opportunity for the company to penetrate new markets—even if the league's labor problems drag on
longer than expected. The line includes items for women and children, and it gives National Design solid footing in the arts and crafts segment.

"This move is a great tie-in to the back-to-school season," says Shimrat. "We're offering cool and hip products for everyday use."

Among the new products that National Design is most enthusiastic about is the NFL Color and Carry set for kids. It contains six activity pages and six colored pencils. There's an equal amount of excitement surrounding the Pink line for women, which includes the Pocket Notes collection of note pads. "Our top sellers also continue to do well," says Shimrat.

The Deluxe Autograph and Pen Set is one of National Design's top sellers.

National Design will spend all of 2011 introducing retailers and buyers to its NFL line. That will set the stage for the company's appearance as an exhibitor at the Sports Licensing and Tailgate Show in January of 2012. "When it comes to the NFL, fans love to support their team," says Shimrat. "We have product in all 32 teams, and we can deliver in seven to ten days."
