Mr. Bar-B-Q Preparing for Las Vegas Debut

What's a tailgate party or backyard get-together without a hot grill full of burgers, brats and ribs? An unmitigated disaster, most people would answer. That's exactly why Mr. Bar-B-Q has been able to remain relevant and thriving for 40 years.

"We're a family-own business," says Drew Sfugaras, Vice President of Sales & Marketing. "We started as a charcoal distributor, made grills for a while, and for the last 15 years, we've focused on grilling accessories."

That focus now includes licensed collegiate products, an area that Mr. Bar-B-Q got into two years ago. "There is a huge tie between grilling and college sports fans," says Sfugaras. "We currently have licenses 59 schools, including Florida, Ohio State, Michigan and UCLA."

The grill cover appeals to sports fans and green consumers alike.

One way Mr. Bar-B-Q sets itself apart is with collegiate items that dealers and buyers won't find anywhere else. For example, the company offers a grill mat that protects a patio or deck from spills and splatters. Equally exciting is the environmentally friendly grill cover. "It's made with recyclable materials," says Sfugaras, "and we've eliminated PVC from all the packaging."

Mr. Bar-B-Q already boasts an impressive network of dealers big and small, but that doesn't mean the company isn't interested in expanding its distribution. To that end, Mr. Bar-B-Q will exhibit at the Sports Licensing and Tailgate Show in January of 2012. "We'd like to recruit new dealers in various key regions," says Sfugaras. "We're also interested to hear feedback on our products. We offer specific programs tailored to independents that provide lots of flexibility."

Indeed, if a dealer or buyer is looking for a grill expert, Mr. Bar-B-Q is a good place to start. "We know the category better than anyone," says Sfugaras.
