When the champagne is popped for the winners of the ALCS, NLCS and World Series this year, no one in the locker room will have to worry about getting any bubbly in their eyes. That's because every player will be outfitted with goggles from Maxx Sunglasses. The promotion is part of the company's debut of its MLB license, which was secured earlier this summer.

"When we saw the chance to brand Maxx under the MLB logo, we jumped at it," says company CEO Rick Milner. "Our licensing deal will help open new markets and strengthen our existing customer base."

Milner's son Brett, the president of Maxx, agrees. "We built our company on the philosophy of providing high quality at a reasonable price," he says. "Our MLB sunglasses feature high-definition lenses and sturdy construction, but at the $30 price range.

Maxx actually got its start as a sunglass supplier to golf shops. The comfortable fit and great visibility was a perfect fit for the links. The same is true for baseball fans and players who want a better view of the action. "Our sunglasses are extremely functional," says Rick.

In addition to the styles that will premiere during the baseball playoffs, Maxx will introduce four new styles at the Sports Licensing and Tailgate Show in January. Two of the models are adult sizes and the other two are junior. All will feature individual team logos.

"This is the first time we'll exhibit at a trade show with MLB product," says Brett. "It will be a coming-out party for Maxx. We're eager to reach out to licensed sports buyers."

And those buyers will discover that doing business with Maxx has its advantages. For example, the company takes pride in its policy of same-day shipping. "That's one of the things that makes Maxx unique," says Rick.

"We plan to roll out new MLB product in the coming year," he adds, "and we'll also look into more licensing opportunities."
