Motorsports Company Has Big Plans for ’07
September 26, 2006
Lance Smith, the president of JLS Motorsports, knows all about life in the fast lane. His career in auto racing has spanned more than four decades, including a successful stint with Roger Penske. JLS opened for business in 1999, occupying most of Smith’s time in the years since.
“We’re doing more and more promotions,” says Smith. “And we’re doing a lot of marketing with NASCAR.”
This includes an exciting joint program with Die-Cast Promotions and country superstars Whiskey Falls that will benefit Comic Relief 2006, which this year is raising funds for victims of Hurricane Katrina. As part of the campaign, JLS will unveil its new entry-level NASCAR model—a Chevy Monte Carlo—at the Sports Licensing and Entertainment Marketplace in Las Vegas.
“Die-Cast is a powerful supporter of JLS,” says Smith. “They got us interested in the show. We’ll unveil the car on the show's first morning.”
But that’s not the only event on the JLS agenda. Whiskey Falls will perform at the SLEM Tailgate Party later in the day. “We’re promoting their new CD through the William Morris Agency,” explains Smith.
He adds that there are plenty of opportunities for SLEM exhibitors to get involved with JLS’s latest promotion. “We’ll be doing more events,” Smith says. “Call us at 805-487-2810 for more information.”
