Michigan Manufacturer Enters the Licensed Sports Biz

Attendees at next year’s Sports Licensing & Tailgate Show can mark another stop on their agendas. Holland Bar Stool has announced the launch of licensed sports product with about 30 schools. The company will make its official industry debut in Las Vegas in January.

“We’re very excited,” says Arie Vink, Holland’s National Sales Manager. “The show will be a great opportunity to introduce ourselves to the industry. We plan on meeting a lot of people in the business.”

Some of those people, however, probably know Holland already. The company has been around since 1993. With a nationwide network of some 1,500 dealers, Holland is widely respected for its high-quality bar furniture and quick turnaround times.

“Holland has grown every year since Day One,” says Vink. “Three and a half years ago, we built a new facility in Michigan. More recently, we purchased American Family Distributors. We’re not a reseller. We do all of our own upholstery, and we have the capability to do wonderful custom work.”

That’s one of the reasons that Holland chose to get into the licensed marketplace. Vink says the company will offer a variety of styles, including fountain stools and solid welded frames. “We’ll be working with metal bases mostly,” he notes. “Every stool will swivel. We expect to start shipping by mid-November.”

Holland is not a total stranger to the licensing game. The company has been doing Harley Davidson product for several years. Vink feels the shift to college product will be a smooth one. In fact, he believes that Holland will eventually look into other licensing opportunities.

“We see great potential,” says Vink. “But we’re going to take our time. We want retailers and buyers to get to know us. When they do, they’ll find that we offer superior products, short lead times and the ability to customize orders of three to three thousand.”
