G-Corp’s standard baseball chiminea

G-Corp Setting the Sports World on Fire
Consumers Quick to Warm to Company’s Chimineas
December 19, 2006

Good sports licensing ideas can appear anywhere, anytime. So it’s no surprise that Frank Gentile came up with us in the parking lot of Dolphins stadium before a Miami-New England game in December of 2004. “It was a cold evening, about forty-five degrees,” he recalls. “A buddy brought his chiminea, we set it up and lit it, and sat around it. The reaction from fans walking by was unbelievable.”

Gentile knew he had a winner on his hands and immediately began pursuing it. He and his brothers, Anthony and John, formed G-Corp a month later. Today, their product line includes chimineas and candle holders, plus an apparel collection. Retail prices for the candle holders start at $29.95, while the chimineas begin at $249.

“These are hand-crafted works of art,” says Gentile. “But besides being eye-pleasing, they are also functional pieces. That’s what great about them.”

Gentile also sees tremendous potential in the licensing world. G-Corp made a successful debut at the Sports Licensing & Entertainment Marketplace and Tailgate • Picnic Show this past November. Both the chimineas and candle holders have plenty of prominent areas for logo placement.

Currently, the company is preparing a custom order that will be part of a tailgating extravaganza at Super Bowl XLI in New Orleans. G-Corp’s chimineas will also be seen at the Daytona 500 a few weeks later in 2007. Before Gentile begins exploring licenses with any league or organization, however, he wants to sure up distribution. “We should be ready to drop-ship in ninety days,” says Gentile.

“We have products that consumers want,” he adds. “And the chimineas are easy to transport. They come in two pieces that are simple to load in the back of any car or truck. But I see them being used for more than tailgating. For example, I envision the day when people keep them in their homes as part of their collectibles. Our chimineas are perfect for anyone who loves sports.”
