December 20, 2010

Cloud-Rider, the original creator of stainless steel grill inserts, is making new headlines in the licensed arena. The Canadian-based company is preparing for its debut at the Sports Licensing and Tailgate Showwith a new line of automotive accessories featuring an all-star roster of NASCAR drivers, including Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Cloud-Rider got 2010 off to a good start when it launched its Canadian Football League license in February. That was followed by news of deals with Polaris and Victory Motorcycles. The agreement with Hendrick Motorsport and Jr Motorsports rounds out an aggressive 12 months for Cloud-Rider.

"We began coming out with products with NASCAR drivers in the fall,” says Jim Smith, who heads sales, marketing and licensing for Cloud-Rider. “Our initial rollout includes mud flaps, hitch covers and grill emblems.”

All will be on display at the company’s exhibit in Las Vegas. According to Smith, Cloud-Rider is eager to expand its reach in the U.S. He sees the Sports Licensing and Tailgate Show as a great way to introduce the company to a large cross-section of retailers and buyers.

“We’re big in Canada, especially in the western part of the country,” says Smith. “We have a few distributors in North Dakota and South Dakota, but we really want to grow our territory. We’re targeting everyone from automotive chains to independents to WalMart.”

Smith feels Cloud-Rider has a unique product offering that will appeal to U.S. retailers and buyers. “Our auto accessories are second to none,” he says. “And we provide a full warranty. We’re eager to make a lot of contacts at the show.”
