Cleavers to Highlight Vegas Tailgating Event
Pair Will Demo New Vertical Chicken Cooker
October 10, 2006
What would the country’s biggest tailgating trade event be without the crown princes of this culinary discipline? That’s exactly what the Tailgate•Picnic Show—part of the Sports Licensing & Entertainment Marketplace (Nov. 9–11, 2006)—wondered recently. That’s why the show has recruited Lee N. Gerovitz and Steve Cassarino, the kitchen cut-up duo better known as the Clever Cleaver Brothers. The pair will stage cooking demos each morning of the show beginning at 11 am.

“The Clever Cleaver Brothers mix fun into everything they do,” says Clinton Billups, the pair’s manager. “Each show will run 30 to 45 minutes, and will present their innovative take on tailgate recipes, all of which adhere to the “SEE” test. Anyone can create meals that feature Simple ingredients, are Easy to prepare and Elegant. Lee and Steve believe you don’t have to eat hot dogs in the parking lot before a game.
The Clever Cleaver Brothers are part of a full slate of performances scheduled for the Sports Licensing & Entertainment Marketplace and Tailgate • Picnic Show. Rocky Fino, author off Will Cook For Sex, has signed up for daily cooking demonstrations. Freedom Grill, meanwhile, will have two tailgating vehicles on hand to welcome attendees into the show. One is a GMC Canyon with a 42" Plasma, and the other a decked-out Chevy Silverado.
As for the Clever Cleaver Brothers, they have made their mark with consumers through a Vegas-syle cooking road show that has taken them everywhere from casinos and corporate events to fairs, festivals and theatres. TV appearances have included Live! With Regis, The Tonight Show, Dateline NBC, Fox & Friends, Entertainment Tonight and The Best Damn Sports Show Period. Gerovitz and Cassarino also have a top-selling DVD, The Clever Cleaver Brothers Tailgatin’.

“During their shows in Las Vegas,” Billups adds, “they will be demonstrating a brand new product called the Vertical Chicken Cooker.”
As if the Clever Cleaver Brothers weren’t going to be busy enough, Billups reports that they are exhibiting as well. “We were flattered when the show asked us to perform,” he says. “But then I told them we need a booth. Anybody who is anybody is going to be there. This is an audience we need to reach. Our first goal is to entertain, but we also want to meet with representatives to discuss appearances, sponsorships and product placement.”
