Bethel Hits Paydirt with New Football Handbag

A year ago, Bethel International was primed to launch a new line of collegiate licensed Megaphone handbags. At the time, the company had a couple of different collections, and business was growing steadily. Marketing Director J. Kim is happy to report that Bethel continues to increase its market share.

The latest from the fashion handbag manufacturer is an eye-catching football design. “Everyone who sees it is really excited about it,” says Kim. “We debuted it last quarter, and it’s already became our number-one product.”

Made from PVC engrained with the texture of pigskin, the bag is appealing to consumers for a variety of reason. Not only does it offer the feel and size of a football, it is also roomy and multi-faceted. According to Kim, price is an attractive feature, too.

“Our Football bag looks expensive, but it’s actually very reasonable,” he says. “Retailers can sell it for under $40 and make good margins.”

Bethel’s Football bag is available in 50-plus school designs. Sales have been strong across the board. In fact, Kim has begun to consider expanding into new licensed venues. “We’ve had talks with the NFL,” he says. “We would love to work with them, especially given the success of our Football bag.”

For the meantime, Bethel is satisfied to keep doing what it’s been doing. “We’re getting ready to introduce a line of high-end fashion college handbags,” says Kim. “We’re also coming out with a men’s wallet. We continue to build on our basic philosophy—giving retailers the best products at the best prices in the marketplace.”
