Cargo Launches the Slide-A-Bed
June 19, 2007
Talk to any tailgater worth his weekend spread, or a soccer mom or dad for that matter, and nothing is more useful than an organization and transport system that makes it easy to load and unload supplies and equipment in an SUV. That’s precisely the problem Beyond Cargo is addressing with the Slide-A-Bed. The company got its start a year ago in April and is poised to take several different markets by storm.
“We’re looking at a few different industries: automotive, law enforcement and tailgating,” says Scott Burns, Vice President at Beyond Cargo. “The Slide-A-Bed is perfect for all of them. It’s affordable and durable, and can hold up to 500 pounds.”
While the automotive marketplace is Beyond Cargo’s primary target, Burns feels the tailgating industry could become very profitable. “We’re located near Appalachian State, which has a great football following,” he says. “The Slide-A-Bed is great for game day. We’re putting together an entire tailgating kit, which will include licensed accessories from other manufacturers such as Smiling Bulldog.”

Beyond Cargo currently offers two versions of the Slide-A-Bed. One is made from high-density polyethylene and comes in a textured black finish. The other, the Fleetwood edition, provides an elegant but rustic feel with handcrafted Red Oak wood. Both systems glide in and out of the back of an SUV with ease.
“Installation is easy and takes just minutes,” says Burns. “We include an instructional DVD with every purchase. Neither requires drilling or alterations to the vehicle.”
Beyond Cargo is still finalizing retail pricing, which Burns hopes will settle between $499 and $549. He’s excited about the Slide-A-Bed’s potential.
“Hard-to-reach cargo in your SUV is a thing of the past,” he says. “Groceries, tools, and everyday items slide out to you for easy access. No more back strain, stretching, and rubbing your clothes up against dirty bumpers. The Slide-A-Bed can get everyone ready for tailgating, but it goes way above and beyond that.”
